Why Choose Underground?
- As a managed venue, Underground provide help and support every step of the way and provide a space already ready and equipped for entertainment purposes.
- Underground is situated in the centre of town – right next to the Fringe desk, Opera House, Tourist Information and St. Anne’s Well – and is home to the Fringe Club, which is popular throughout the festival period.
- As well as introducing Buxton to new cultures and styles, our shows are always very successful at the Buxton Fringe awards. Last year, Underground shows took almost all the awards for theatre, comedy, music and children’s shows. Underground also hosts a large number of shows going on to the Edinburgh Fringe and further touring. The Mother’s Bones in 2006 won the Manchester Evening News Fringe Award and last year’s Play On Words went on to win the Cameron Mackintosh New Writing Award.
- Underground’s team offer support and advice from the point of application through to and during the Fringe itself Underground shows enjoy a much above-average audience when compared to the rest of the Buxton Fringe.
- Last year we sold nearly three and half thousand tickets, not including our Launch Party and Fringe Club
